Chase Sapphire Preferred Offer Increase

Pam

Finally! The Chase Sapphire Preferred Card has a public sign-up bonus increase! 🎉 We’ve been waiting for this! The Chase Sapphire Preferred is our absolute favorite card for beginners to start with for so many reasons:

  • Great transfer partners
  • Redeem points for 1.25 cents/point in the travel portal
  • 5x points on travel purchased through Chase
  • 2x points on all other travel purchases
  • 3x points on dining, select streaming services, and online grocery purchases
  • There is a low annual fee of $95 with a $50 hotel credit when booked in the travel portal

Redemption Ideas

There are so many ways to use your Ultimate Rewards, which is why they are our favorite type of transferable points. You can transfer them directly to a transfer partner (airline or hotel) or use them in the  Chase travel portal. When used in the portal, your points are worth 1.25 cents each.  This is a great option for cheap cash fares or cheap hotel nights. I have found the most value when transferring my points out, but check both ways to ensure you get the best redemption value.

Flights

With 75,000 Ultimate Rewards, you could probably book 2 round-trip domestic flights. Let’s say you want to go to Maui. Here is an option for using those points. I can transfer my Ultimate Rewards directly to Southwest and fly for just over 35K points roundtrip.

I can get my spouse and me there with just this welcome offer.  Now, that is a good sign-up bonus! Two flights for only $22.40 is almost too good to be true. But it isn’t. I’ve done it time after time! This is truly a great bonus offer from Chase on the Sapphire Preferred card!

Hotels

Let’s look at some hotels where we could stay. Hyatt is one of our favorite transfer partners with Chase’s Ultimate Rewards! We love this partnership so much because all points transfer at a 1:1 ratio, and Hyatt has a low award chart. That means I can get a great hotel night for not very many points. It truly has oversized value. There are fantastic Hyatt hotels all over the country and internationally as well.

One of the best family redemptions is Hyatt Place, where a family can stay for about 5,000 points/night on the low end. That means you can get 15 nights with just this one bonus. And they have a great breakfast for the family and are clean and nice, too! Win-win all the way around. Alex loves to do a staycation at them or stay when one of her boys has a soccer tournament out of town. She’s staying for free, and the other families pay almost $200/night!

Alex and Jess have both used Hyatt points to stay at the Grand Hyatt Kauai. It costs 30K points/night, and you can get two nights there with this card. This is a huge savings, as it usually costs over $800+ per night there.

Bottom Line

Our favorite time of year is when we get a Chase Sapphire Preferred welcome offer increase! If you currently have a Chase Sapphire Preferred or Reserve, and it’s been 48 months since you received the bonus, you can downgrade (or cancel) the card and re-apply for it. If you’ve been waiting for a welcome offer increase on our favorite beginner card, now is the time to apply. Thanks in advance if you use our link to do so!
