My favorite way to redeem my Chase Ultimate Rewards® is to transfer them to Hyatt. You might be wondering why, and this post is your answer. Hyatt award stays offer oversized value. Of all the possible chains you can book with points, you’ll get the most value from Hyatt. I will be showing you multiple stays that we have done that will prove this point.
There are two primary ways to earn Hyatt points. The first way is via the Hyatt co-branded credit cards:
All information about the World of Hyatt Credit Card has been collected independently by Travel Mom Squad. The World of Hyatt Credit Card is no longer available through Travel Mom Squad.
At first glance, these might seem like the best ways to earn Hyatt points. Personally, I have both of these cards. However, the personal card doesn’t have the greatest welcome offer (we keep it every year for the annual free night certificate, though).
These cards are also crucial to our ability to earn Globalist status without staying 60 nights at Hyatt hotels, but if you’re not interested in earning status then you likely won’t need both of these cards. We use our Hyatt cards to pay for our Hyatt stays/any incidentals we charge to the room during our stays, but not much else.
I prefer to earn my points for Hyatt stays with cards that earn Chase Ultimate Rewards®. These include:
Note that the Freedom Unlimited, Ink Business Unlimited, and Ink Business Cash are marketed as cash-back cards, but you’ll actually earn Chase Ultimate Rewards®. Then, if you have the Sapphire Reserve, Sapphire Preferred, or Ink Business Preferred you can move your points to one of those accounts and transfer them out to transfer partners like Hyatt. As you can see, there are a lot of ways to earn those coveted Hyatt points. Now, let’s check out why we believe that Hyatt award stays offer oversized value.
Jess recently returned from an unbelievable trip, during which she stayed at two Hyatt hotels that offer oversized value—the Park Hyatt in Paris and the Hyatt Regency Churchill in London. I have also stayed at a Park Hyatt in Zanzibar, and it was an incredible stay as well.
The Park Hyatt Paris Vendome is one of the most aspirational stays in the world. The nightly rate runs about $1,500—insane. You can stay there for as little as 40K Hyatt points/night.
I have stayed at the Great Scotland Yard Hotel in London and loved it. It was close to all the must-see spots and just a charming, beautiful hotel. At only 25K points/night for a $700/night hotel, it is a good example of one of the Hyatt award stays that offer oversized value.
Another one of our favorite Hyatt awards stays that offers oversized value is the Hyatt Regency Maui. Again, staying for as little as 25K Hyatt points/night (off-peak) at a hotel that goes for over $600/night (sometimes over $1,000/night!) is a no-brainer. A similarly priced Marriott or Hilton would cost 3-4 times that much in points. This hotel is located on Ka’anapali Beach which is such a fun location in Maui.
Do we think that Hyatt only gives oversized value to luxury stays? Not! The Hyatt Place Moab is perfect for family stays with a complimentary breakfast, a sleeper sofa, and two queen beds so a bigger family can stay for an affordable points rate. The price runs at over $350/night (and much more at peak times), but can be booked for as little as 17K Hyatt points/night. Alex and her family frequently stay at Hyatt Places for her kids’ out-of-town sports and can book them for as little as 3,500 points/night. That makes a $200/night hotel an outsized value stay with points!
Jess and I just love the Andaz Papagayo in Costa Rica. The service is impeccable, the beaches and pools are so fun, and it is close to Liberia airport. We will return to this hotel again and again. While a standard room costs over $600, it can be booked for only 25K points/night. I call that oversized value!
We love a hotel stay on points and miles. However, the longer we do this, the more we have realized that Hyatt award stays offer oversized value. We are constantly trying to earn more Hyatt points, so that means we are after a lot of Chase Ultimate Rewards® to transfer to Hyatt! If you’d like our free Guide to More Hyatt Points, click here. My favorite Hyatt stay was the Regency Grand Cypress at WDW. Although I would never go back to WDW again, the hotel and staff at Grand Cypress are incredible.
